Korea is a country divided; that divide happens almost exactly at the 38th parallel. The DMZ (DeMilitarized Zone).
Being ushered from one stop to the next on the DMZ tour seems to trivialize the moment, almost making it too easy to stop and remember the tragedy of this situation. A starving people, so cut-off from the rest of the world with a “dear” and magical leader who has no real interest in providing for his nation.
A nation divided, families divided across borders.
Korea holds on to the hope of reunification, however the true political, financial and cultural implications of this merge will never be fully known or understood until that moment arrives.
